Jordan is filled with historical sites and amazing landscapes. And you're not far from some world renowned sites like Petra and Wadi Rum.
There is a lot to see and do in Aqaba and the surrounding region. Aqaba is famous for its diving, but equally well-known for being close to Wadi Rum and Petra. These tourist sites are considered "must sees" in Jordan. Although we are not a tour agency, we will be happy to assist you in making plans, renting a car or getting a driver, and recommending places to stay.
Petra
Known as the 7th Wonder of the World, Petra is a Unesco World Heritage site that is visited by half a million people every year. It is famous for the Nabatean buildings carved out of sandstone. Petra is filled with history and it's a photographer's dream. Only 2-1/2 hours from Aqaba and well worth a visit.
Wadi Rum
Wadi Rum is filled with amazing red sand landscapes. These landscapes became well known recently by the film, The Martian, which was shot there. The government of Jordan declared Wadi Rum a protected area in 1998. People come to hike, take jeep rides, and camp out under the stars. There are many campsites run by local Bedouins you can choose from.
Aqaba
If you don't feel like snorkeling or diving and want to get off the beach for a while, there is plenty to see and do in Aqaba. Great restaurants, souvenir shops, and shopping are all easily accessed downtown. Don't miss the chance to pick up a handmade sand souvenir or some Bedouin artifacts to remember your trip!
